First Day Of School In Newark: See Important Dates For 2023-2024

Back-to-school planning has already begun in Newark. Here are some key dates to keep in mind this year.

NEWARK, NJ — It’s almost time for a new school year, Newark.

Back-to-class planning has already begun in the Newark Public School District for 2023-24, with the first day for students set for Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The last day of class for students and staff will take place on Friday, June 21. See the full calendar online here.

According to the district’s calendar, here are some other key dates to keep in mind for the upcoming school year.

THANKSGIVING BREAK – Nov. 22 (early dismissal); Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 (holiday, Thanksgiving)

WINTER BREAK – Dec. 25 (holiday, Christmas); Dec. 26 to Dec. 28 (winter recess); Dec. 29 (holiday: New Year's Eve, observance)

SPRING BREAK – April 1 to April 5
