Free Brain Injury Seminar: April 22nd in Sayerville
Free seminar offered for professionals: Pediatric Brain Injury
The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey is hosting a free seminar for professionals in Sayreville, New Jersey on April 22, 2016. The seminar is titled, "Pediatric Brain Injury: Behavioral Challenges."
Brain injury is the leading cause of death and disability among children and youth in the United States. It is estimated that 175,000 people in New Jersey are living with the life-long impacts of brain injury. Each year approximately 9,000 people will be hospitalized due to a brain injury. The number of those who are not hospitalized, and therefore do not receive diagnosis or treatment, is unknown.
The training will provide an overview of pediatric brain injury, including definitions, symptoms, consequences and prevalence in New Jersey and nationally. Information about how pediatric brain injury, mild to severe, affects development will be available as well.

Speakers will discuss an analysis of the consequences of pediatric brain injury that may lead to risky behavior, which can continue to adulthood. A representative from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Disability Services, will disclose the resources available through the state.
The Pediatric Brain Injury: Behavioral Challenges training will be held at the Middlesex Fire Academy, at 1001 Fire Academy Drive in Sayreville, New Jersey. Registration can be completed online at:
