“Please bring your students and community members to meet the son of the late Honorable Marcus Mosia Garvey. His son, Dr. Julius Garvey, is the keynote speaker for the Africana Institute's 12th Annual Garvey/Nkrumah Lecture. Born in Jamacia in 1933, Dr. Garvey is a retired Thoracic Surgeon, who is striving to raise awareness about the exoneration of his late father, who founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association/African Communities League to uplift African Americans and Black people around the world. He will also speak about the republishing of ‘Philosophy and Opinions of Marcus Garvey.’”
According to organizers, the Garvey/Nkrumah Lecture Series is a Pan-African presentation that showcases the continuity of the philosophy of operational unity amongst African people in America and throughout the world. Each lecture details the historical and contemporary ideas and purposes of Pan-Africanism from the springboard of Ghana’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Marcus Mosiah Garvey, the founder of the world’s largest African organization, the UNIA/ACL.
