Gospel’s Biggest Voices Earn Major Recognition Ahead of the 2026 Dove Awards

Gospel music has always been bigger than a genre. It carries testimony, tradition, celebration, and a sound that continues to evolve with every generation.

That evolution is reflected in this year’s GMA Dove Award nominations, where some of gospel’s most recognizable voices are once again being recognized for the work they’ve brought to audiences around the world.

Motown Gospel artists received 11 nominations for the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards, with Jonathan McReynolds, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tye Tribbett, Pastor Mike Jr., and JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise represented across multiple categories.

The nominations span Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year, Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year, Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year, Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year, and Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.

Jonathan McReynolds appears across several categories, earning recognition for “One Good God (Live),” “Still (Live)” with Jamal Roberts, and Closer (Live in Chicago).

Tasha Cobbs Leonard also earned multiple nominations. “Already Good (Tasha Slide)” is up for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year, while “Church” with John Legend is nominated for Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year. Her album TASHA is also nominated for Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year.

Tye Tribbett received recognition for “Yahweh Flow (Live In San Francisco),” featuring Jocelyn Bowman, D’nar Young, Jewell Jones, and Jalisa Faye, along with an album nomination for Only On The Road (Live).

Pastor Mike Jr. is nominated alongside Tauren Wells for “Sunday Morning,” while Confetti & Conspiracies: The Amen Mixtape is also up for Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year.

JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise round out Motown Gospel’s nominations with The Live Reunion: Washington, DC (Live / Deluxe), nominated for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.

What stands out about the nominations is the range.

There is live worship. There is contemporary gospel. There are collaborations that bridge audiences. There are artists rooted in tradition while still creating music that speaks to where gospel is heading next.

“We are incredibly proud of our artists and creative teams whose passion, excellence and unwavering commitment to their craft continue to elevate Gospel music around the world,” Walter Thomas, Executive Vice President of Motown Gospel, said in a statement.

Thomas added that the 11 nominations are “a meaningful recognition of their impact.”

The 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards will take place Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The ceremony will air on TBN and the TBN+ app on Friday, October 9, with broadcasts scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET. A rebroadcast is scheduled for October 16, and fans can also listen to the October 9 simulcast on SiriusXM’s The Message.

Awards ultimately recognize individual songs, albums, and performances. But this year’s Motown Gospel nominations tell a larger story too: gospel music continues to stretch, evolve, collaborate, and reach new audiences without losing the faith, emotion, and community that have always been at its center.
