Gunpoint Robbery In Newark; Police Search For 2 Suspects
Two men approached the victim from behind and robbed him, Newark police said.
NEWARK, NJ — Two men robbed a victim at gunpoint on South 9th Street in Newark last week, authorities announced Monday.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the robbery took place on Dec. 3. Police released the following details about the incident:
“At approximately 8:18 p.m., two males brandishing weapons approached the victim from behind on the 400-block of South 9th Street. The first suspect pointed the gun at the victim, demanding that he give up his wallet and cell phone. When he complied, both suspects shoved the victim toward an empty lot before they ran away southbound on 9th Street toward 16th Avenue.”
Police said the first suspect was wearing black pants and a ski mask. The second suspect was wearing a white checkered jacket, black pants and a black ski mask.

Authorities released surveillance photos of the two suspects (see below).
