Hammer Attack In Newark Leaves 2 With Head Injuries: Police
The assault "doesn't appear to be a hate crime," Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are investigating a “hammer attack” that left two men with head injuries on Thursday, authorities said.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the assault took place around 2:30 p.m. on Freeman Street near Fleming Avenue. Officers arriving on the scene found two men with head injuries, as well as a hammer believed to be used in the attack.
Emergency responders transported both victims to University Hospital, where they were treated and are in stable condition, authorities said Thursday.
