Here’s When Flights Begin At Newark Airport’s Swanky New Terminal
The $2.7 billion terminal opened in November. Here's when it will officially launch.

NEWARK, NJ — The first flights in and out of the new, $2.7 billion terminal at Newark Airport will begin on Jan. 12, officials announced Thursday.
Last month, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey held a ribbon cutting event for the airport’s brand-new Terminal A. The new terminal was expected to be operational on Dec. 8, the Port Authority previously said. But the opening date for the public was pushed back due to pending tests for the fire alarm and security systems. Concerns from airlines about opening a brand-new facility during the peak holiday travel period also played into the decision, officials said. But launch day is now back on track, with Thursday, Jan. 12 at the new target date, according to Port Authority Director of Corporate Communications Thomas Pietrykoski.
“We look forward to welcoming passengers to this magnificent, state-of-the-art facility, where they will enjoy best-in-class functionality, inspiring public art, delicious local concessions, and a transformative experience from curb to gate,” Pietrykoski said.
