Hillside Man, 22, Dies In Irvington Shooting: Authorities

A fatal shooting in Irvington claimed the life of a 22-year-old Hillside man, authorities said.

IRVINGTON, NJ — A fatal shooting in Irvington claimed the life of a 22-year-old Hillside man last weekend, authorities said.

Aziz Ibn Rasheed Bell, 22, of Hillside, was identified as the victim in a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Irvington Police Department.

“On Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3:26 a.m., Irvington police received a 911 call stating that an unidentified male was lying on the ground in the area of Smalley Terrace and Oak Avenue in Irvington. First responders located the victim, who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:49 a.m.”

No arrests were reported as of Saturday. An investigation continues, prosecutors said. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor's Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
