Hit-And-Run In Newark; Police Search For Suspect, Vehicle (PHOTOS)
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition, Newark police said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for a suspect and a vehicle allegedly involved in a hit-and-run in Newark last week, authorities announced Wednesday.
The hit-and-run took place around 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 8, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety, which released the following details about the incident:
“Police responded to Sanford Avenue and South Orange Avenue on a call of a pedestrian struck. The adult victim was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver exited her vehicle to assist the victim to the sidewalk before returning to her vehicle and fleeing, headed southbound on Sanford Avenue.”
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition, police said.

Detectives said the suspect is a woman with long, braided hair, who was wearing a black jumpsuit and pink slippers. The vehicle is a yellow 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt bearing New Jersey registration number: Y17RKZ (see surveillance photos below).
