Homeless Outreach Event Returning To Newark: Food, Haircuts, Services

Essex County will be bringing back its annual "Project Homeless Connect Day" event for 2024.

NEWARK, NJ — Essex County will be bringing back an annual “Project Homeless Connect Day” outreach event in Newark for 2024.

This year’s event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Essex County College gymnasium on West Market Street.

People experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless will be able to get free health screenings, haircuts, public assistance, food and other crucial resources.

Attendees can also learn more about free programs for youth, veterans and victims of domestic violence, as well as employment resources and senior services. Other providers that will be present include medical/mental/behavioral health care services.
