Hot Rods And Classic Car Show Returning To Newark

The annual Hot Rods and Classic Car Show will return t o Newark Sunday, September 8, 2019, from 11 am to 4 pm ( rain date September 15 ). Now in its seventh year, the event sponsored by Mt. Prospect Partnership, has evolved into a true festival experience for classic car enthusiasts. The show attracts over 200 classic and hot rod cars owners from all areas of New Jersey and beyond with thousands of attendees expected.

The event kicks-off at 11 am with a Classic Cruise around the North Ward. Followed by a stunning display of beautifully restored classic vehicles and amazing muscle cars from all eras on view for the day on Mount Prospect Avenue between Delavan Avenue and Heller Parkway.

“There are so many beautiful classic cars and truck owners that call Newark and its surrounding area home. This show provides Newark residents an opportunity to showcase their vehicles to other enthusiasts without traveling far from home,” said Chris Virginio, President of the Mt. Prospect Partnership.

Participants can compete for trophies and over $1,000 in cash prizes. Space is limited, so pre-registration is highly recommended especially for clubs. Past participants that showed their vehicles at the Hot Rods and Classic Car Show have gone on to participate at much larger car shows (both locally and nationally) and have consistently been trophy and prize winners. Those competing in the car show can register online at www.JayBeeEnt.com until August 31. Pre-registration is only $15; $20 on the day of show. The first 100 registered participants will receive a commemorative show t-shirt.

Anibal Ramos Jr., North Ward Councilman, lauded the event, saying, “The Classic Car Show has become a really popular event for families in the North Ward, whether it's the live music, the great food vendors, the free children's activities or simply the vehicles...we’re proud to partner with the Mt. Prospect Partnership and the volunteers that organize this event each year.”

The event also features live music, food trucks, vendors, and children’s activities. Thanks to the Mt. Prospect Partnership the car show has remained free to all spectators since day one. A portion of the proceeds from the registrations will benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation. The Hot Rods and Classic Car Show is easily accessible from the Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, Rt. 78, Rt. 21, and Rt. 280.

Mt . Prospect Partnership (MPP) is the District Management Corporation for the Mt. Prospect Avenue Special Improvement District. MPP serves as a catalyst for the revitalization of the district in Newark’s North Ward, laying the groundwork t o support the area's economic revival.
