NEWARK, NJ — The City of Newark will begin Christmas tree collection for 2023 on Wednesday, Jan. 18, and continue through Wednesday, March 22.

According to a municipal news release, Newark residents discarding trees should also remove all ornaments and lights. All such Christmas trees must be natural (non-artificial).

Residents should dispose of the tree when it begins dropping needles. Dried-out trees are a fire hazard and should not be left in the home, in the garage, or placed outside against the home.
