Hundreds Of Newark Dads, Male Role Models Walk Kids To School
KIPP New Jersey: The annual event is a chance for fathers and male mentors to show solidarity and support for their children.
NEWARK, NJ — Some of the best memories are the simplest.
More than 400 fathers and male mentors walked their children to school over a two-day period last week as part of KIPP New Jersey’s annual “National Male Mentors Walk Your Child to School Day.”
According to a school news release, the annual event is a chance for fathers and father figures to show solidarity and support for their children - and the community - by escorting their children to class. This year, four KIPP New Jersey schools participated in the event: KIPP Life Academy, KIPP BOLD Academy, KIPP THRIVE Academy, KIPP Rise Academy and KIPP SPARK Academy.
