NEWARK, NJ — An exit ramp off I-280 in Newark was temporarily closed on Friday due to a water main break, authorities said.

The I-280 west exit ramp to Clifton Avenue was temporarily closed due to a water main break at Orange and Nesbitt streets, the Newark Department of Public Safety reported at 8:49 a.m.

Along with the temporary closure of the exit ramp, the following streets in the area of the water main break were closed:

  • Clifton Avenue, from 7th Avenue to Orange Street
  • Nesbitt Street, from Sussex to Clifton Avenue

“Traffic is being diverted in the area,” officials said. “Drivers should anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.”
