Identified: Newark Man's Body Found in Belleville River

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has released the identity of a 67-year-old Newark man whose body was found in the Second River in Belleville on Wednesday, March 11.

According to authorities, Roosevelt Padilla-Correa was found unresponsive in the Second River on Wednesday morning in the vicinity of 540 Mill St.

Police stated that Padilla-Correa’s vehicle was located nearby.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The ECPO and the Belleville Police Department have not named a cause of death, but a report stated that the car may have crashed into the river on Tuesday night.
