Irvington Man Found With Fatal Gunshot Wounds In Newark

A late-night shooting in Newark claimed the life of an Irvington resident, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A late-night shooting in Newark claimed the life of an Irvington resident on Tuesday, authorities said.

Newark police found Gregory Scott, 27, of Irvington, with gunshot wounds on the 100-block of Lehigh Avenue at 11:17 p.m., according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Scott was transported to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m.

No arrests have been made, prosecutors said Thursday.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting.
