Joe Biden Coming To New Jersey As Governor Election Nears

Barack Obama will campaign with Phil Murphy in Newark. Just days later, Joe Biden will also pay New Jersey a visit.

NEWARK, NJ —President Joe Biden is making a trip to New Jersey, barely a week before the state’s 2021 gubernatorial election.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced the president's upcoming visit on social media, saying he is "looking forward to welcoming President Joe Biden to New Jersey on Monday to highlight the incredible progress we’ve made on everything from infrastructure to support for working families."

Biden will join Murphy at a “non-campaign related event,” according to the New Jersey Globe, making stops at a day care center in North Plainfield and the New Jersey Transit Meadowlands Maintenance Complex in Kearny. The president is hoping to rally support for his bipartisan infrastructure deal and Build Back Better agenda, News 12 New Jersey reported.

The infrastructure bill includes $12.3 billion for New Jersey, as well as funding to be tapped to build the long-awaited Gateway Tunnel, NJ.com reported.
