The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children Offers Aid to Attend Schools Throughout the Archdiocese of Newark
The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC), which provides children in need with the opportunity to receive a high-quality, values-based education in a nurturing and safe environment, is pleased to offer K-12 scholarships now through April 30 for students to attend private and parochial schools throughout the Archdiocese of Newark.
“The application period is now open and we look forward to reviewing the applications of families seeking to give their children a strong education,” said Jasmin Roman, SFIC Scholarship Program Director.
Founded in 1983 as the Fund for Educational Advancement by Archbishop Emeritus Peter L. Gerety, SFIC is a non-profit organization funded by corporations, foundations, and individual donors who wish to invest in the future of economically-disadvantaged children living in neighboring communities. SFIC has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of inner-city children and has provided more than 57,000 students with over $47,000,000 in partial-tuition assistance.

Scholarships are given exclusively on a needs-based basis. Applicant families must be ready to provide proof of income and must intend to attend one of the Archdiocese of Newark's Catholic schools within the counties that SFIC serves (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union).
SFIC was founded with the resolute idea that the gift of education is one of the most important values to pass on to the next generation, no matter where students come from nor their family's socio-economic status.

Families are encouraged to consider a Catholic education for their children through the support of an SFIC scholarship. Students that attend the Catholic schools that SFIC serves have excellent test scores and higher rates of graduation and college placement than their peers attending public school.
