Kiss-Cam Meets Facebook: NJ Devils Fans Can Now Download Video Scoreboard Appearances

It's one of the most frustrating Catch-22 situations for fans: appearing on the Jumbotron but not having proof to show your friends.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey’s only professional sports team is attempting to fix one of the most frustrating, Catch-22 situations for the modern sports fan: appearing on a stadium’s video scoreboard but not having a video to prove it to friends and family.

This season, New Jersey Devils fans who appear on the Prudential Center’s videoboard during games will be able to instantly download their personalized video clip on their mobile device and share it via social media through the team’s partnership with 15 Seconds of Fame, the team announced on Monday.

The Devils were the first National Hockey League team to pilot the technology during the 2015-16 regular season finale at The Rock in April, according to a team news release.

“The Devils and Prudential Center are consistently on the cutting edge of technology integration,” Daniel Cherry III, New Jersey Devils and Prudential center chief marketing and innovation officer stated. “We are thrilled to partner with 15 Seconds of Fame to be the first hockey team to give fans a new way to consume and share once-in-a-lifetime Devils moments.”

The new technology will debut for the year at Devils Opening Night on Oct. 18 against the Anaheim Ducks.
