Labor Day Shooting In Newark Leaves East Orange Man Dead

The 39-year-old Essex County man was found on Rowley Street, police reported.

Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Newark on Labor Day evening.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Walter Page, 39, of East Orange, was killed around 11 p.m.

Responding to reports of gunfire in the area of 9 Rowley Street, officers arrived on the scene and found Page “unresponsive” and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders pronounced him dead on the scene.
