Love it or hate it, New Jerseyans will have their last chances to see “The Greatest Show On Earth” this month when the soon-to-be defunct Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus holds farewells shows in Newark and Trenton.
The famed Ringling Bros. circus announced in January that it’s closing down for good after a 146-year run with a series of shows beginning in Newark on March 9 and ending in May in Uniondale, New York.
North Jersey residents will get their last chance to catch the circus during a series of shows at the Prudential Center in Newark from Thursday, March 9, to Sunday, March 12. Click here for ticket information and show times.

In a statement explaining the reason for the show’s demise, Kenneth Feld, chairman and CEO of Feld Entertainment, cited high operating costs and declining ticket sales, which allegedly saw a further drop after the circus stopped using elephants responding to growing pressure from animal rights activists.
