Man Stabbed To Death In Newark; Police Investigation Continues

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 52-year-old man in Newark. No arrests have been made, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 52-year-old man in Newark on Monday evening, authorities said.

Newark police responded to the 100-block of Seymour Avenue at 7:11 p.m. after getting a call about a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found Clacius Tate, 52, of Newark, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Emergency responders transported Tate to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8 p.m.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal stabbing.
