Man Asked Teen To Have Sex Behind Newark School, Police Say

The man also took photos of the teenager and asked he could kiss her, authorities said. A search for the luring suspect continues.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to get a teen to have sex with him for money behind a local high school earlier this month, authorities announced Thursday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the encounter took place on the 200-block of Chancellor Avenue around 9:06 a.m. on March 8, as a juvenile female student was walking to Weequahic High School.

The suspect – a man in his late thirties or forties – followed her from Osborne Terrace and Nye Avenue. He then propositioned her to have sex with him behind the school for money, police said.

The man also took photographs of the teen and asked if he could kiss her hands and feet, authorities said.

Newark police said the luring suspect was described as a Black male who is 5 feet 11 inches with a black beard and a short haircut (see photo below). He used a blue iPhone 13 to take photos of the teen.
