Man Fired Gun At E-Bike Riders In Newark, Police Say

A first-floor window of a nearby residence was shattered by a bullet, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a man who allegedly fired a gun at two e-bike riders earlier this month, authorities announced Monday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, police responded to the 300-block of South 11th Street around 2:30 p.m. on April 9 after getting a call about gunfire in the area.

The officers found a spent shell casing on the sidewalk. A first-floor window of a nearby residence was shattered by a bullet, authorities said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Witnesses told police that a man fired a gun at two males riding e-bikes, who fled the scene by jumping a fence and running through a backyard, authorities said.

Police said the alleged shooter has a thin build and short, braided hair. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray and black Nike sweatpants, and black and gray sneakers (see photo below).
