Man Killed In Newark Shooting, 2 Others Wounded: Authorities

Police officers found three men with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A shooting in Newark claimed a man’s life and wounded two others on Thursday afternoon, authorities say.

Police responded to reports of gunfire on the 200-block of Springfield Avenue at 2:26 p.m., according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Officers found three men with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Each was transported to University Hospital. One of the men – Nyree Williams, 24, of Newark – was pronounced deceased at 2:38 p.m.

No additional details were immediately available, prosecutors said.
