Man Robbed Several People In Newark On Same Day, Found Guilty
The Newark resident was captured on video driving a stolen getaway car for one of the robberies, prosecutors said.
NEWARK, NJ — A New Jersey man has been found guilty of robbing several people on the same day in Newark three years ago, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
An Essex County jury convicted Anthony Torres, 28, of Newark, on charges of second-degree robbery, conspiracy and receiving stolen property in connection with crimes that took place on Nov. 15, 2020.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Torres was captured on video driving a stolen getaway car for one of the robberies. Later that day, he robbed two other victims in Newark.

After a five-day trial, the jury deliberated for four days before finding Torres guilty.
Torres faces a sentence of up to 35 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2024.
