Man’s Body Recovered From Lake At Weequahic Park In Newark

The man has not been identified, Essex County authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in a lake at a county-run park in Newark on Tuesday.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a dead body in Weequahic Park around 11 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:06 a.m.

The man hasn’t been identified, and the cause and manner of his death is pending an autopsy, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the sheriff’s office.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the death. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
