Man Steals U-Haul Truck From Facility In Newark: Police

The thief used a silver object to pull the truck's keys from the business's return box, Newark police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a U-Haul truck from a facility in Newark last week, authorities announced Monday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the theft took place on Aug. 2. Here’s what happened, authorities said:

“An employee of U-Haul reported that a truck which was dropped off at 1 a.m. was stolen from the facility, located on the 800-block of Broadway, at 5 a.m. The male suspect used a silver object to pull the truck’s keys from the business's return box before fleeing in the vehicle and heading north on Broadway towards Verona Avenue.”

The U-Haul truck bears an Alabama registration of AL793335, authorities said.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect (see below). Authorities said he has a light skin complexion, blonde/brown long hair and multiple tattoos on his neck, arms and legs.
