Man Tried To Bring Gun Into Essex County Hall Of Records: Police
He claimed that he "forgot it was in there," authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police arrested a man after he tried to enter the Essex County Hall of Records in Newark with a semi-automatic handgun in his book bag on Monday, authorities said.
The weapon was detected in an x-ray machine at a security screening post inside the building around noon, according to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.
The man – later identified as Charles Pryor II of Orange – claimed that he “forgot it was in there,” authorities said.

Authorities charged Pryor with unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit, a second-degree crime. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
