Many Newark Students Are Struggling With College Graduation: Report

A large percentage of Newark students are seeing an uphill struggle when it comes to graduating college, a report says.

NEWARK, NJ — A large percentage of Newark students are seeing an uphill struggle when it comes to graduating college, a report says.

More than two-thirds of Newark teenagers attend a high school at which they have a less than one-in-five chance of graduating and getting a college degree within six years, TAPintoNewark reported earlier this week, citing data from the New Jersey Department of Education.

The most recent data reflects the college success rate of the high school graduating class of 2016, when the district was still under state control, the report adds.
