ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An East Orange woman was found dead in Newark on Thursday night, authorities said. She had been missing for four days prior to the discovery of her body.

East Orange police issued a missing person alert for Rhanasia Knight, 30, on Thursday afternoon.

According to a city spokesperson, Knight was last seen at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday departing from the 100-block of South Clinton Street in East Orange. She was apparently headed to Bradley Court at North Munn and Tremont Avenues in Newark, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Knight’s body was found in a vacant apartment on the 60-block of North Munn Avenue in Newark on Thursday night.

The medical examiner’s office is investigating the cause and manner of Knight’s death, authorities said.
