Missing Newark Girl, 11, Found After Police Seek Public's Help

NEWARK, NJ — UPDATE: Newark police announced Wednesday evening that Xiomara Elizabeth Giron Soriano has been found unharmed. Our original article follows below.

Newark police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing, 11-year-old girl, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Xiomara Elizabeth Giron Soriano, 11, of Newark, was last seen on the 100-block of Van Buren Street on Tuesday. She may have travelled to the state of New York, police said.

“While police are actively searching for Xiomara Elizabeth Giron Soriano, we seek the public's assistance so that she can be returned to her family,” authorities said.

Police said Soriano is 5 feet 4 inches and about 125 pounds, with a light skin complexion, dark-brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt with a hood, black pants, red sneakers and small earrings.
