2 Missing Newark Men Found Unharmed, Police Say (Updated)

Police said two men, ages 71 and 83, were reported missing on the same day in Newark.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police asked for the public’s help finding two missing men on Monday. Both were found unharmed, authorities said.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, Benjamin Figueroa, 71, of Newark was reported missing on Monday.

Police said:

“Mr. Figueroa, who suffers from dementia, was last seen at University Hospital at 10:30 a.m. He is described as 4 feet 10 inches and 136 pounds. He has gray hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of a knife on his left arm. Mr. Figueroa may be wearing a yellow short-sleeve shirt and dark-colored jeans.”

“Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly locating Mr. Figueroa so that he can be reunited with his family,” police said.

Police later announced that another man, Felix Perez, 83, of Newark, was also reported missing on Monday.

Authorities said:

"Mr. Perez, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, was last seen today on the 200-block of North 5th Street. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches and 170 pounds, with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, orange shirt and blue jeans. Mr. Perez may be in the downtown area of Newark and is known to use the train/light-rail system."

Both Figueroa and Perez have since been found unharmed, police said.
