Missing Essex County Teen Last Seen 1 Month Ago Outside YMCA Building: Police
The 15-year-old girl has run away from home in the past. She was carrying a large duffel bag when last seen, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help finding an Essex County girl who has been missing for more than a month, authorities announced Tuesday.
Lovely Mells, 15, of Newark, was reported missing on Dec. 18, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Mells – who has run away from home in the past – was last seen around midnight outside of the YMCA building on the 600-block of Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard in Newark. When a case worker confronted her about where she was headed, Mells didn’t reply and walked away, police said.

Police said Mells is African American with a light-brown skin complexion, 5 feet 3 inches and 120 pounds, with long black and pink braids, and brown eyes. She was wearing a black coat, gray sweatpants and black sneakers, and was carrying a large black duffel bag.
Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website.
