Missing Newark Woman May Be With Wanted Man: Police

Newark authorities said that a missing, 30-year-old woman may be in the company of a man who is wanted for an alleged assault.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a missing, 30-year-old woman. Detectives are working to determine if she is in the company of a man who is wanted for an alleged assault that took place last week.

According to Newark police, the missing woman - Julia Vega, 30, of Newark - was last seen on the 200-block of South 7th Street around noon. She is 4 feet 10 inches and about 170 pounds. (See photo below)

She was last seen in the 200-block of South 7th Street around noon driving her vehicle, a 2006 White Toyota Sienna with NJ registration E56-GVV, police said. (See below photo)

Newark police said that detectives are attempting to determine if Vega may be in the company of an acquaintance, Gualberto Lebron, 32, of Newark.

Police issued a warrant for Lebron’s arrest in connection with an assault that took place on Saturday, May 5. He remains at large, authorities said Thursday. (See below photo)

“While police are actively searching for Vega, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating her and returning her to her family,” the Newark Department of Public Safety stated Thursday.

Anonymous tips may also be made using the Police Division’s website at www.newarkpd.org or through its smartphone app available at iTunes or on Google Play.
