NEWARK, NJ — A missing 11-year-old boy reported as a “runaway” earlier this week has been found safe, authorities said.

On Tuesday, a Newark police spokesperson said that Yazir Finklea, 11, of Newark, has been located and is unharmed.

Finklea was reported missing on March 24. According to police, he was last seen around 12:40 p.m. at a youth shelter on the 200-block of Broadway. He was described as 4 feet and 100 pounds, and was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt with a black vest over it, gray Nautica sweat pants, a “Rest in Peace” bandanna on his head and blue and white Jordan sneakers at the time of his disappearance.
