MTV To Hold 2019 Video Music Awards In Newark, New Jersey
For the first time in its history, MTVs annual award show will be coming to New Jersey.

NEWARK, NJ — For the first time in its history, MTV's annual award show will be coming to New Jersey.
On Monday, Aug. 26, the MTV “Video Music Awards” will pay tribute to some of music’s biggest names at the Prudential Center in Newark, the media network and Prudential Center announced earlier this week.
Bruce Gillmer, executive producer of the annual MTV gala, said that New Jersey has “an incredible music heritage.” He cited acts such as Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Queen Latifah, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, the Jonas Brothers, the Fugees and Halsey.

“Now the moonperson plants its flag to celebrate all that New Jersey has given to music fans around the globe,” Gillmer said.
Scott O’Neil, CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, said that the company is “thrilled” to welcome the award show to the Prudential Center.

“We look forward to continuing to tell the story of this world-renowned venue and the positive change it has generated through music and entertainment in Newark and across the state of New Jersey,” O’Neil said.
