TMZ reports that police were alerted by the "Trap Queen" singer's electronic ankle monitor, and discovered an outstanding arrest warrant.

NEWARK, NJ —New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap was reportedly arrested at Newark Liberty Airport on Friday, after police got an alert from his electronic ankle monitor, the celebrity gossip website TMZ reported.
According to TMZ, the rapper, whose real name is Willie Maxwell II, was at the airport for an undisclosed reason, when police received a notification. It was not the "Trap Queen" singer's only recent brush with the law. On Oct 29, Maxwell was indicted on Long Island for his role in distributing more than 100 kilograms of drugs, federal authorities said. Five other people were indicted for the alleged conspiracy.
Maxwell, authorities said, was a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization.

In a statement to Patch, Maxwell's attorney, Navarro Gray, of Hackensack, said he was praying that the arrest was "all a big misunderstanding."
On Nov. 5, Maxwell reportedly was released on a $500,000 secured bond and under GPS monitoring, among other restrictions.
TMZ said it reached out to Maxwell's representatives for a comment about the airport arrest, but did not get a response.
