Partnership Increases Funding Opportunities for Small Businesses
Newark-based nonprofit, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership (IFEL) recently launched the New Jersey Capital Ready Initiative to help New Jersey small business owners gain access to tools, training, and expertise to help improve their ability to access capital. Financial technology platform, FINSYNC is one of the partners who answered the call to support this initiative. recently partnered to launch the which will help small business owners by providing financial management skills and systems to increase their ability to get funding.
According to a recent survey from Goldman Sachs, 86% of Black small business owners surveyed were concerned about access to capital, higher than the overall percentage of 77% of small business owners.
"We understand that the lack of access to capital in Black and Hispanic communities is a layered and complex problem that isn’t simply solved through training,” says IFEL CEO Jill Johnson. “Our partnership with Finsync is providing program participants with a robust financial management tool and hands on support to get setup. Business owners are able to stay on top of cash flow, run reports, and access working capital all with just a few clicks. It’s really game changing.”

The partnership has set a goal of supporting 150 businesses by the end of 2024 as a pilot. Participating business owners will have access to the Finsync platform and will receive high-touch support to produce financial statements, prepare financial projections, and create a compelling pitch deck.
