Newark Breastfeeding 'Nurse-In' Against Trump Immigration Policy
A "nurse-in" taking place in New Jersey's largest city will protest "breastfeeding children being taken from their mothers' embrace."

NEWARK, NJ — As the controversy surrounding the Trump Administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their mothers and fathers grows, parents in New Jersey’s largest city are planning a unique way to express their outrage: a breastfeeding “nurse-in.”
On Friday, June 22, organizers with Laid Back Lactation and Hand in Hand will spearhead a “stroller procession” to Newark’s Lincoln Park. Their goal? Bring awareness to the cases of “breastfeeding children being taken from their mothers' embrace.”
The peaceful nurse-in will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will gather in Newark's Lincoln Park and then make a slow stroller procession two blocks to 972 Broad Street, the federal building which houses Immigration Services and ICE offices.

At that point, the rally’s youngest participants will “latch on” and the breastfeeding will begin.
The rally will be “all-inclusive” and will include “breastfeeders, chestfeeders, exclusive pumpers, formula feeders, nursing toddlers, weaned kids, partners and those who aren't parents.” (Learn more here)

“You are protected by New Jersey law to breastfeed in public and we'll have printed copies of the law on hand,” organizers said.
