In Newark: ‘Cherry Blossom Explosion’ 2024 Event

We invite you to join us next Thursday, April 11 for the 1st annual "Cherry Blossom Explosion: I Blossomed in Newark." This event is a vibrant celebration in support of the annual Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival, offering attendees a delightful cherry blossom-themed experience. This year's festival takes place from April 6 to 14, concluding with Bloomfest, as usual, in Branch Brook Park.

This year, the Greater Newark Convention and Visitors Bureau brings Branch Brook Park inside of the visitors' center. For a limited time, visitors can immerse themselves in our cherry blossom-esque flagship location, where the main attraction is a new photo-ready Cherry Blossom Art Installation. Digital displays, photo ops, pink treats, and decor round out the fun of this enchanting launch event, kicking off a week and a half of good vibes and flicks in celebration of Cherry Blossom Season.

The first 25 attendees will be welcomed with limited-edition t-shirts featuring cherry blossom motifs, allowing them to take home a piece of the event as souvenirs.

The launch event promises to be a lively affair, complete with music provided by a DJay to enhance the festive atmosphere further.

Lastly, attendees will be able to participate in a visitor survey, which will grant them access to any photo opportunities taken by our photographer and entry into a silent auction featuring desirable prizes and/or Newark-centric experiences. This interactive element adds an extra layer of engagement and excitement for visitors, encouraging them to share their feedback while potentially winning coveted items and acquiring memories.

During the kick-off event and beyond, visitors are encouraged to share selfies with this one-of-a-kind, special edition art installation on social media using the hashtags #NewarkHappening, #CherryBlossomExplosion, and #IBlossomedInNewark.

The installation will be on view from Thursday, April 11 through Friday, April 19. Additionally, the GNCVB will host a second Cherry Blossom-themed event in partnership with the Junction at Gateway on Wednesday, May 1 inside the Jewel Box at Gateway Center.
