Newark City Budget Is Running Several Months Late: Report

NEWARK, NJ — The introduction of the 2025 municipal budget in Newark is now nearly four months overdue, a report says.

City administrators previously pointed to federal funding cuts as the reason for the delay. However, Newark’s budget director told TAPinto Newark that an increase in the Essex County tax levy has caused the delay.

The delayed budget introduction may result in a nominal fine for the city, TAPinto reported.
