Newark Cop Fires Weapon While Chasing Suspect
A Newark police officer fired his weapon on Goble Street. No injuries were reported, authorities say.

Authorities reported that a Newark police officer discharged his firearm while in pursuit of a suspect on Friday night.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Newark police responded to a Goble Street residence around 8 p.m. in search of a male suspect who was wanted by the Elizabeth Police Department.
As the Newark officers approached the residence the suspect fled and the officers gave chase on foot, according to authorities.

During the chase, one of the officers discharged his service weapon, prosecutors reported.
There were no injuries as a result of the shot, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police arrested the suspect without further incident and turned him over to Elizabeth police, authorities stated.
