Newark Cops Find Woman Locked In Car Trunk, Screaming For Help: Authorities

When Newark officers arrived, they heard screams for help coming from the trunk of a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville, police say.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested an Essex County man on Wednesday after officers rescued a 25-year-old female victim who was screaming for help from inside a car trunk, authorities say.

Newark officers responded to South 20th Street and 19th Avenue around 8:17 p.m. after receiving a report of a man striking a woman while standing on the street.

“When officers arrived, they heard screams for help coming from the trunk of a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville,” the Newark Department of Public Safety stated in a news release. “The officers forced the trunk open and found a 25-year-old victim, who was transported to University Hospital for treatment.”

After canvassing the area, officers later located and arrested a suspect in the incident, Kevin Little, 35, of Irvington.

Police arrested Little without further incident and charged him with aggravated assault, authorities said.
