Newark Cops Shut Down 3 Local Businesses For Code Violations
Newark authorities temporarily closed a beauty supply store, a fried chicken restaurant and a medical office.

NEWARK, NJ — Police temporarily shut down three Newark businesses last week pending proper licensing efforts from their owners, authorities say.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, on Aug. 24, Newark police conducted store inspections along Lyons Avenue, Maple Avenue and Chancellor Avenue to look for code violations.
As a result of the inspections, authorities temporarily closed the following stores closed due to unspecified violation(s):

- Brother Beauty Supply Store at 242 Lyons Avenue
- Texas Fried Chicken at 250 Lyons Avenue
- An unnamed medical office at 410 Chancellor Avenue
“Code enforcement operations are among the Department of Public Safety’s ongoing initiatives developed in response to citizen complaints along business corridors,” Newark authorities stated. “As part of the initiative, businesses are inspected for code violations.”
