Newark ‘Day Without Immigrants’ Strike: International Workers’ Day 2017
Immigrant rights groups and supporters in Newark will rally to "demonstrate that the country depends on the labor of immigrants."

NEWARK, NJ — Immigrant rights groups and supporters in Essex County have announced plans to hold a local “Day Without Immigrants” strike in Newark on Monday, May 1 in solidarity with a national day of action.
According to event organizers, the rally will include “immigrant rights organizations, unions, students, clergy and activist groups from across northern New Jersey,” and will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. at the federal building near the corner of Broad Street and Lincoln Park in Newark.

The protest - timed for International Workers’ Day 2017 - is being held to “demonstrate that the country depends on the labor of immigrants and working people, regardless of race or immigration status,” organizers said.
