Newark Event: Puerto Rican Day Parade And Festival 2024

A popular Puerto Rican Day Parade and festival will return to Newark on Sept. 15.

NEWARK, NJ — A popular Puerto Rican Day Parade and festival will return to Newark for 2024.

This year’s parade will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15 at noon. Click here for more information.

“We honor the Puerto Rican heritage by declaring every year the third Sunday of September as Puerto Rican Day in the City of Newark,” organizers say on the parade website. “We will host a parade on this day to demonstrate our pride and appreciation for our Puerto Rican heritage.”

STREET CLOSURES

The Newark Department of Public Safety said the parade begins at noon at Broadway and Bloomfield Avenue, and will continue along Bloomfield Avenue. The grandstand for the parade will be at Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and Christopher Columbus Drive (on the bridge).

Several roads will be closed for the parade, police noted:

Beginning from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Sunday, September 15, 2024

  • Broadway between 4th Avenue and 7th Avenue

Beginning from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Sunday, September 15, 2024

  • Bloomfield Avenue from Broadway to 1st Avenue (in addition to surrounding streets)
