Newark Fire Injures Four, Including Two Young Children

The fire took place on Bergen Street on Friday morning.

Authorities are investigating a Newark building fire that injured several residents, including two young children.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen Street fire took place around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, and injured four residents, including a 9-year-old and 4-year-old girl and two, 29-year-old adults.

Emergency responders transported the victims to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

The mother and girls are in critical condition, the ECPO stated on Friday.

Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries in the blaze.

The American Red Cross (North Jersey Region) reported that 39 people in 9 families received emergency assistance in the form of temporary lodging, food and clothing.
