Newark Gets A Grabbagreen Restaurant: ‘Whole Food’ Menu Is Gluten, GMO-Free

The restaurant's Newark location chose to pay its workers above the minimum wage, Mayor Ras Baraka said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark residents in search of a way to feed their families healthy food while living a fast-paced modern lifestyle will have a new ally in their battle against hunger: Grabbagreen’s new location at 98 Halsey Street.

The chain – founded in 2013 by two moms that “found it increasingly difficult to feed their families healthy food on-the-go” – features a whole food menu that is preservative, gluten and GMO-free, according to its website.

“We are proud of Grabbagreen for hiring most of its staff with Newark residents and also paying them above the minimum wage,” Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said during a grand opening ceremony on Dec. 12. “These are the type of business partnerships we are proud of and encourage in our city.”
