Newark police had asked for the public's help finding a 11-year-old girl. She was reported missing in the South Ward of the city.

Newark police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing 11-year-old girl, authorities said Tuesday evening.
Damitra Smith of Newark was reported missing from the South Ward of the city, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Smith is 5 feet 3 inches and 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing pink pants, a red jacket and blue sneakers, authorities said.
“While police are actively searching for Damitra, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating her so she can be returned to her family,” authorities stated.

On Wednesday afternoon, Newark police confirmed that the search for Smith continues.
"While we don’t suspect any foul play at this juncture of the investigation, we are calling on the public for assistance in locating this missing young girl," Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. "If anyone in the community sees her, please call 911 immediately."
